Software Architect, Advisor
Ben is an advisor and software architect with many years of experience delivering systems across diverse organisations, from healthcare and finance to telecom, manufacturing and IoT. His roots are in software architecture, the IDesign Method and backend development. Ben's approach starts with active listening and understanding each organisation's workflow. You can expect him to actively think (and act!) alongside you, fully contributing to the success of your organization.
Over the years, Ben's work expanded to how projects, teams and ways of working are set up and improved, and the leadership that takes. Many organisations struggle to bridge the gap between what is needed and what gets built. He helps them make clear choices about the software, the work and who takes responsibility.
Depending on what is needed, he advises, works through the design or builds alongside the team.
Ben believes leadership starts with trust. Be clear about the result, give people responsibility and room to do their work, and follow through on agreements.
He prefers small, concrete steps. Decide what needs to happen next, do it and adjust as you learn. When something gets in the way, address it openly and work through it together.
Whether leading enterprise transformation, refining architectural governance, or designing mission-critical systems, Ben Degens partners with organisations ready to elevate their software engineering maturity.
